“Authentic” is a popular word these days, whether it’s in your Marketing or social media posts, it’s out there!
What does Authentic really mean in your law practice?
It means 2 things for Lawyers:
1- You need to be yourself
2- You need to be transparent to your clients so they understand what will happen as they move through the legal process with you.
To be authentic in your practice you have to ask yourself a few burning questions:
❓ Do you like what you do?
❓ Do you like your area of practice?
❓ Do you like your professional colleagues?
❓ Do you actually like your clients?
If the answer is NO to any of these questions, or a combination of them, then maybe you need to make some big changes. Do you need to change the work, the niche, the team, the setting, or something completely different.
Start with being HONEST TO YOURSELF.
Be sure what you are doing serves YOU.
In truth, it happened to me, so I made the change to becoming a solo lawyer and didn’t look back because it was what I needed to do.
BE HONEST WITH YOUR CLIENTS
Most lawyers ARE honest with their clients, but sometimes are not clear about what a client should expect if they work with you. Your clients just need you to lay out the process clearly for them.
Always give your clients your best, whether it’s advice or how long the process is going to take – being honest from the beginning will go a long way with clients trusting you and recommending you to their family or friends.
BE YOURSELF WITH YOUR CLIENTS
If you stay in communication with your clients they will appreciate you. Seeing you for who you are can go a long way, especially if your message is more personal and not only about your law practice.
Keep these three tips in mind, and let me know what ways you are authentic in your law practice.
