How To Get Media Coverage For Your Law Practice

Ever wonder how to get media coverage  for your law practice?

Janet L. Falk is a public relations guru who advises attorneys, business owners, and consultants on what strategies they need to take for news coverage and revenue growth.

So why do some lawyers get media attention over others, even though one may be a better expert over the one being interviewed?

If you’ve asked yourself this, or can relate to this, then this is definitely the video for you to watch now!

What does it really take to be the person who gets called by the media instead of the lawyer you are watching outside the courtroom or on the television? Let’s find out what Janet Falk says!

Why get seen in the news?

👍 It can put pressure on opposing counsel on a case you are working on.

👍 It establishes you as the authority in your community who helps people with their problems and looks after their best interest.

👍 When you are in the news it puts you in front of so many people, especially those within your own circle or circle of influence.

👍 It can certainly help the hiring process, and attracts the right types of employees to your law firm.

👍👍 And in general, you are  seen as THE ATTORNEY who understands what’s happening.

How do you get to be in the media, when you are a solo or small firm?

The best tool Janet uses for her clients to start with is called a Media Profile. Janet says it’s not your bio, it’s not a list of places you’ve worked, it’s not your representative matters, and it’s not your publications (all of which are on your website and/or social media profiles). It’s more of an introduction of yourself in an organized way including 3-5 sentences briefly describing your background and where you are licensed to practice. Your contact information in the Media Profile is very important.

What does the media want to know?

They want to know the information nobody else knows (yet) relative to the type of cases you are working on, like trends, issues, or situations looming on the horizon that nobody else could possibly see unless they are an expert like you.

Are you available for comment?

🟢 Your media profile gives a clearer picture of “why you, and why not anyone else”

🟢 Your story needs to be told now, and you need to communicate why, all of a sudden, it’s of  interest now.

🟢 You need to be able to say clearly why people should care about what you have to say.

Janet Falk helps lawyers who may have a case they are working on and want to generate a news story or, they may want to become better known in their industry or community depending on their overall goal. Your digital assets must be up-to-date before she will introduce them to anyone in the media.
