The best tool Janet uses for her clients to start with is called a Media Profile. Janet says it’s not your bio, it’s not a list of places you’ve worked, it’s not your representative matters, and it’s not your publications (all of which are on your website and/or social media profiles). It’s more of an introduction of yourself in an organized way including 3-5 sentences briefly describing your background and where you are licensed to practice. Your contact information in the Media Profile is very important.


What does the media want to know?

They want to know the information nobody else knows (yet) relative to the type of cases you are working on, like trends, issues, or situations looming on the horizon that nobody else could possibly see unless they are an expert like you.


Are you available for comment?

🟢 Your media profile gives a clearer picture of “why you, and why not anyone else”

🟢 Your story needs to be told now, and you need to communicate why, all of a sudden, it’s of  interest now.

🟢 You need to be able to say clearly why people should care about what you have to say.
