How To Stop Limiting Beliefs Sabotaging Your Law Practice Success

What are the limiting beliefs holding you back from succeeding in your law practice?

The first place my mind went when my business coach asked me this question was:

I don’t have have enough clients, or

My revenue is inconsistent, or

My team is not working efficiently.

This is not what she meant.

She wanted to go deeper. She wanted to find out what MY feelings, or beliefs, were on the important issues affecting the business and how they may be having a detrimental effect on me and how I ran my business.

Here are some examples we came up with:

My Team: I thought I was bad at managing people.

We looked deep into it, and the fact was… I wasn’t trying hard to actually manage anyone because it wasn’t something I really wanted to do.

Teams are important on so many levels, but most importantly you should have someone in charge who likes to manage people and promotes cross communications.

So it wasn’t the Team… I didn’t have the skills to manage people, period.

It wasn’t that I was good or bad at it… I needed the skills

ASK YOURSELF… Have I learned how to manage people properly?

Money: I thought I would never have enough money no matter what I did.

If you grew up not having enough money, you will think there will never be enough money to pay your bills every month, or pay your staff.

This is not true, but it does limit your ability to manage money well. If you recognize this early, you make sure you have people in place who CAN manage the money for you. Don’t let it become a self-fulfilling prophecy when it’s a solvable problem.

ASK YOURSELF… What are my own personal beliefs about making money?

Self Worth: I had feelings that I’m not good enough.

So where’s the evidence in that belief? You went to law school, You passed the bar. You accomplished a lot along the way. Maybe you just haven’t figured out what your strengths and weaknesses are.

ASK YOURSELF… What are the skills you need to develop in order to become THE expert in an area you WANT to know more about?

Don’t blow off the negative thoughts holding you back from succeeding – address them!
