Be The Unforgettable Lawyer Clients Continue To Hire and Refer

How do you make yourself the unforgettable lawyer to your clients, former clients and your referral sources?

We all know a steady stream of great clients is the life blood of any law firm. So how do you make sure you are top of mind with your greatest referral sources within the group of people you already know?

Keep in mind, the people you already know are also interacting with other professionals in their  lives, those people play important roles for them as well and over a period of time, those connections multiply. While you are handling your clients’ cases you are top of mind but what happens down the road when you are not working with them on an ongoing basis?

There are ways to make yourself “unforgettable” in a positive way.

Provide great professional service

Whether you are a lawyer, or in another profession, there is no doubt you are going to provide great professional service to your clients. It’s expected, but it doesn’t make you unforgettable or keep you top of mind. So make sure to always keep what you do professional.

Provide a great client experience

Winning a case isn’t enough. Treat your client as a person, not a case. Make them feel comfortable and that you will be available for them with boundaries and let them know your guidelines, or how you operate your business when it comes to communicating with them.

Always respond to their emails, texts, or phone calls based on your operating procedures.

Remember things

It’s the little things that make your law firm unique. Being thoughtful about your clients, whether you are still working on their case or not. Remember special dates in their lives. Keep in touch with what is going on in their lives. Send them something that puts you back in their minds.

Bigger clients vs smaller case clients

Whether it’s a bigger case or referral source, you want to know more about these clients. What you send to them will be much more meaningful, but you have to make the effort to get to know what inspires or motivates them. It’s as simple as having a brief conversation and making notes to refer back to at key moments.

Remember, being top of mind is not just about the work you do, but who you are as a person, so take the time to get to know your clients personally. It will go a long way to making yourself unforgettable if you listen more and ask the right questions.
