Work Life Balance Tips for Women Lawyers

Who is Wendy S. Meadows

Family law has been at the heart of Wendy’s practice since 2005. By 2011, Wendy made partner in her Towson law firm and then in 2018, she left to establish her own practice in Phoenix, Maryland.

In addition to being an experienced litigator, she is also a skilled mediator and a certified collaborative law attorney. Wendy frequently serves as a court appointed best interest attorney, representing children from as young as eight months to 16 years of age.

As a Life Coach to lawyers who want to live a healthier life, Wendy helps women develop the practice they want, avoid burnout and make time for their own kids.

In her free time, Wendy enjoys hanging out with her husband and children, providing online coaching to promote health and wellness, working out, cooking and having leisurely dinners with family and friends.

Here are some of the questions we asked Wendy starting with the beginning, through to the journey of today:

🔴  Tell our listeners a little bit about your journey as a lawyer, how you started out where you were working, and just take us through that tell us what happened?

🔴  So 13 years in a firm, and you know, when you work in a firm, there are lots of comforts, regular paycheck, benefits, etc. So after 13 years, what made you decide to make a change?

🔴  You mentioned you knew something was coming down the ‘pike’ – what was it?

🔴  Now that you’ve been on your own for a while, tell us the advantages vs disadvantages of being in a solo firm vs a small firm.

What Wendy misses the most about being in a ‘small firm’ is sharing in the ups and downs and the socialization.

What does your typical client look like now?

What are some of the issues you help women address?

If you are lawyer thinking of rejoining the workforce after maternity leave, or several years off raising your child or children, then consider getting in touch with Wendy. She will be able to best assess where you need to focus your energy on getting yourself back on track.
